When you think of popular party starters, weekday lunches, or even post-work hangouts in Nigeria, Mexican food may not immediately come to mind, but a Los Angeles based restaurateur is seeking to change all that. Uzo Umeh has set a mission for her aptly named company, El Padrino, to bring high quality Mexican food to Nigeria, starting with Lagos.
Formerly a branding and communications lead at VFD investment Group in Lagos, she then went on to become a restaurant general manager for Chick-Fil-A in Westwood, California. After two years, she made the decision to move back to Lagos for the love of the city and the food to create El Padrino
El Padrino has been establishing itself in the past few months through engagements with multiple office mixers, event receptions and is now also recently offering personal deliveries. The mouthwatering menu has quickly caught the attention of many foodie patrons, earning Uzo the ordained title of The Taco Lady.
